Therapy via Webcam

  • Real-time communication through video
  • The least degree of anonymity available online
    • Still able to ease some the inhibition of therapy
  • More affordable than face-to-face therapy

See the Guidelines for Therapy via Webcam for more information.

Therapy via Webcam gives you the help that you need with convenience and comfort of staying at home. Perhaps the right therapist cannot be found where you live or you want a therapist who shares your values. Whatever the reason, you've decided that online therapy is right for you. Perhaps this is the only therapy you would consider right now. You are not alone, many people have apprehension about traveling to a therapist's office.

What differentiates Therapy via Webcam is that you and your therapist will be able to see and hear each other during the session. You are still "blinded" to some of the aspects of communication normally used, such as, eye contact, gestures off camera, body language and some ways you are communicating that you are unaware of. Because these things are missing, you must compensate by the depth and expression of your speaking including your facial expressions. The struggle to communicate in this way will force you to communicate through a medium you are probably not used to using. In the end, you can expect your communications skills to be improved in a way that will positively affect your day-to-day communications. Of course we hope it will ultimately be a beneficial therapy experience.
