    Examples: sorrow, regret, frustration, annoyance.
  • are inflexible and extreme. Examples: depression, rage, panic, self-hatred
  • Constructive Behaviors Destructive Behaviors
    1. change the negative event that keeps happening,
    2. make a healthy adjustment if the event cannot be changed and
    3. go forward and make progress in achieving goals.
    1. Do not help to change the situation and often make a bad situation worse,
    2. prevent one from making a healthy adjustment if the situation cannot be changed
    Productive Thinking Unproductive Thinking will
    1. is Realistic and allows one to deal with probable outcomes.
    2. is Balanced and enables one to recognize a range of responses to his behavior.
    3. Allows one to respond constructively to realistically perceived situations.
    1. tends to be Unrealistic and cause one to predict the occurrence of low probability, highly aversive outcomes, and it will
    2. tends to involve thinking that causes most people to respond negatively.
